Ethnography of professions
Matteo Clerici
Vocational training for careers is a useful but complex tool. Being placed between basic courses and operational needs, it could be hard for institutions to perceive these micro perspectives from a macro point of view. In the social context of education, some specific theories raise new issues for researchers and educational designers, like the theory of professionalism by Corrado Ziglio. Each work environment has its distinctive features; therefore, it is important to use integrated approaches, which help the institution to fill the gap between the theoretical perspectives of the professions and the operational practices. My attempt is to raise an issue about some key aspects of the ethnographic research and police training in a specific context like Italian prisons.
