Ethical-social education in secondary school curriculum policy documents
Maria-Chiara Michelini
This essay will focus on the ethical-social curriculum, placing it in the context of the fundamental policy documents that concern the scholastic segment of lower secondary school, from its institution to the present day. To this end, it compares different scenarios and approaches, critically highlighting their contradictions and fragilities. In the light of a global approach, as opposed to a sectorial/disciplinary approach, it develops a series of guidelines, which the 2012 National Guidelines and the Reinterpreted Document, developed in 2018 by the National Scientific Committee for National Guidelines, entrust to schools as guiding criteria for the development of an ethical and social curriculum, within their mandate. Particular attention is directed to teaching methods, which translate and carry out educational purposes.
