Emotional regulation and its importance for well-being

This article presents a general overview of emotional regulation and of the importance it plays in individual well-being. This construct is introduced by tracing a theoretical excursus and then dwelling on the most accredited model in its study, namely the Modal Model of Gross and colleagues, with its extensions. The emphasis is placed on the role that the regulation of emotions plays for individual health and well-being and on the protective factors that can be the subject of preventive interventions.
