The educational practice of Salesian accompaniment

Michal Vojtáš

The article presents three different levels of Salesian educational accompaniment. The first focuses on the process of accompaniment as described by St. John Bosco in the biographies of the exemplary teen-agers of his Oratory. The narrative analysis offers a transformative process articulated in seven steps: acceptance, challenge, entrustment, environment, crisis, decision, commitment. The second level of accompaniment is linked to the identity of the accompanier, who acquires skills and credibility through a process of discipleship. The third applicative level offers a proposal of accompaniment through processes of educational environments planning in a logic of deep transformation.
