Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS): A contribution to Italian validation

Annamaria Di Fabio, Letizia Palazzeschi

The aim of this work is to offer a contribution to the Italian validation of the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS). Participants were 564 high school students. Dimensionality, reliability, and concurrent validity were analysed. Confirmatory factor analysis supported a three-dimensional version of the scale. In addition, good internal consistency and concurrent validity were established. Results indicate that the Italian version of the MSPSS is a valid instrument for measuring perceived social support in the Italian context with high school students.
