Temporal competencies to promote positive aging. A participatory action-research project
Manuela Zambianchi
The relevance of skills systems owned by individuals for their health and well-being has led to extend Life Skills Education programmes from developmental age to old age. An action-research project focused on temporal competencies (time perspective, proactive coping strategies, daily time management) was carried out at the Primo Levi University in Bologna. A group of 22 participants (mean age 63.77 years) filled in the time perspective questionnaire, the questionnaire on personal projects, and four items on the Time Management questionnaire. Time perspective shows the highest scores on positive past and positive future, personal projects are focused principally on culture, family and leisure time. They subsequently took part in a training course.
