PeCAS – Questionnaire for the assessment of difficulties in choosing secondary school education

The purpose of this study is to present a new questionnaire on the difficulties that students might encounter in choosing their secondary school education in Italy. The questionnaire is characterised by its simplicity and it has been created to facilitate the identification of students that might require support in dealing with this choice. 327 students participated in the study. Confirmatory factor analysis supported a four-dimensional factor structure: Parental expectations; Confusion; Anxiety and Suitability. Reliability and concurrent validity, with a scale on career exploration and the situation of the process of choosing, were good.
