This paper describes a survey on risk and protective factors in female sexual functioning in a non-clinical sample.
Recent studies have shown that female sexual disorders are highly prevalent in the general population, but not well defined or understood, furthermore, if compared, several difficulties related to the definitions in use of sexual functioning, methodology and analysed populations appear. Other scientific evidence has shown that the incidence of sexual dysfunction is higher in clinical populations, in both sexes.
Current data indicates that the most common sexual disorder in women is characterised by dysfunction of desire and arousal. In addition, there is a high proportion of women who have multiple sexual dysfunction.
