The practice of writing: Letters as a communicative bridge
Chiara Patuano
In the digital age, the value of handwriting seems to be progressively fading, overshadowed by the widespread use of digital devices that prioritize rapid and concise communication. In the past, letters and written documents were commonly found in people’s homes and served as direct testimonies of thoughts and emotions. Today, such materials are increasingly difficult to come by, and one may even wonder whether younger generations are capable of writing letters with a certain emotional depth. study involved a small group of participants who voluntarily engaged in writing a letter, emulating the style and approach of traditional epistolary communication. The aim was to understand whether it is still possible to convey complex emotions through writing in a context where this practice is now perceived as foreign or outdated.
