Marco Zuin, Cecilia Pellizzari, Silvia Faggian
This contribution presents research on human emotions, highlighting the role of Emotional Intelligence in understanding and managing emotions, with a specific focus on Emotional Regulation strategies: Cognitive Reappraisal and Expressive Suppression. The study involved a sample of 311 participants, young adults aged 18-30, administered a thoughtful battery of tests: Emotional Regulation Questionnaire, Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale, Emotional Quotient Inventory. Significant correlations between variables related to Emotional Intelligence emerged from data analysis, demonstrating its role and impact in emotional regulation processes and emotional response. The research emphasizes Emotional Intelligence’s mediating role, suggesting it as a key factor in effective emotional defense management. The proposed model’s potential applications involve extending models on emotional regulation and developing interventions to promote flexibility in emotional regulation, especially for preventive actions in educational and clinical settings.
