Historical development of the Salesian educational relationship lived by the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians

Piera Ruffinatto

The article retraces some stages in the history of the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, founded by Saint Giovanni Bosco and Saint Maria D. Mazzarello, with the intention of highlighting the evolution of the educational relationship and demonstrating its methodological relevance within the Preventive System. The underlying hypothesis is that the relationship can be considered an element of synthesis of the entire educational process, that is, a condition for the implementation of the system and its particular methodological path. Even today, the educational relationship continues to challenge pedagogical reflection and educational practice within and beyond the many socio-cultural emergencies, in order to form responsible and supportive persons, capable of living together and being creators and protagonists of social integration.
