The different faces of smartphone addiction
Karin Bagnato
Smartphone addiction is a new form of addiction without any substance that
is becoming more and more frequent and that is taking on different and specific
forms of manifestation. The excessive and incorrect use of digital technologies poses
multiple and important challenges to pedagogy which it cannot refuse, devalue
and entrust to other knowledge, but it must accept and make its own precisely because
of the specificity of its object of study: education. In particular, smartphone
addiction deeply questions educational action on the need for new theoretical
and practical considerations for building up new forms of digital citizenship. The
objective of this work is to analyse the different faces of smartphone addiction in
order to identify the most functional educational actions so that the new generation
can learn to use digital technologies in a critical and aware way.
