Scientific teaching in the basic school: «Know that» or «know why»?

In the contribution the author emphasizes the need to pursue a teaching that has the goal of understanding. After noting that, in the basic school, it is unrealistic to want to provide explanations to the students without them possessing the necessary requirements to be able to understand them, proposes to use their experiential knowledge to start them with the acquisition of important basic skills.
