The influence of significant adults’ support in young adolescents’ development
Paolo Gambini, Emilio Brecciaroli
The results show that support for significant adults is a promotional factor that complements the support of parents and enriches the contribution of the latter. Parental support has more important effect on the perception of the well-being of the child while that of significant adults is more influential in the social sphere, in the conviction of social effectiveness and even more on the sense of intimacy with friends. For the entire sample, parent and adult support are mutually reinforcing augmenting the desired outcomes; instead, due to gender differences the situations vary from time to time.
