Giovanni Bosco and Janusz Korczak: masters of upbringing confronted

In this article the author outlined the similarities of the two great educators of the nineteenth century and early twentieth century: Father Bosco and Janusz Korczak. After analyzing the available literature, we must admit that both Bosco and Korczak masterfully interpret their past and present, in order to invest their energy in the educational area. They pointed out not only horizontal dimension in education, but vertical (transcendent) dimension as well. In vertical dimension they have sought the source of the educational values and ultimate meaning of growth. Through this work we get a picture of both Bosco and Korczak, as charismatic people with a mature personality, love and commitment for young people. Pedagogy promoted by Bosco and Korczak becomes not only a source of creative inspiration for the modernization of educational work, but also may become a valuable signpost towards genuine empowerment of students in the educational process.
