Promoting interculturality in the internationalization of education: Experiences of a network of Brazilian and Argentine teachers

Roberta Vasconcelos Leite

This study explores intercultural experiences in higher education as lived by members of the Network for the Promotion of Interculturality in the Internationalization of Education (REPIE). This Network comprises professors from public universities in Brazil and Argentina who are dedicated to promoting internationalization at home through teaching, research, and extension initiatives. A phenomenological analysis was conducted based on the responses of eight professors to an online questionnaire, organizing their reflections into three main axes: the Network as a space for professional development, challenges and strategies for overcoming them, and intercultural learning. Drawing on contributions from relational sociology to the understanding of interculturality, the findings suggest that the Network is perceived by its members as a source of relational assets that sustain and enhance their teaching practices, strengthen their reflexivity in addressing institutional and contextual challenges, and contribute to the human development of their students.
