Adaptability as an existential competence in orientation practices. An empirical research
Giuseppe Crea
Adaptability is a very important skill especially in these times of great change. The ability to adapt is connected with motivational aspects (such as the search for meaning and self-transcendence) which help to orient oneself flexibly in educational development tasks. The present study aims to investigate the relationships between meaning of life, self-transcendence, personality factors and resilience, in influencing the adaptive capacity of the people interviewed. The results of the sample, made up of 646 subjects, confirm that adaptability is a resource that can be educated through the individual’s capacity for resilience. Furthermore, motivational aspects mediate the effect on the person’s capacity for flexibility along the life trajectories of their existence.
