The journey of vocational pedagogy in the first 70 years of «Orientamenti Pedagogici»

The 70th anniversary of OP has allowed the Faculty of Sciences of Education of the Salesian Pontifical University to review the scientific path traced in the pages of our Journal. Here we analyse that which concerns the Institute of Vocational Pedagogy which, by its nature, requires a transdisciplinary approach. Therefore, we have screened the contributions from various sources present (pedagogical, psychological, sociological, pastoral, and specifically vocational). We follow an evolutionary chronological criterion regarding the growth of attention to these aspects, and then a thematic criterion in determining some content nuclei surrounding various approaches and contributions. These areas are vocation, specific vocations, young people and vocation, family and vocation, religiosity-catechesis and vocation, vocations ministry, vocation counselling, vocation pedagogy, and the vocations promoter-former. It is impossible to deal with all these themes in the analysis of 186 articles in this long period, therefore in applying the thematic criterion, we concentrate on some relevant aspects to highlight the notable achievements of OP scholars in this sector.
