The article presents the historical intertwining between the journal «Orientamenti Pedagogici» and the Institute of Catechetics (ICa) of the Pontifical Salesian University of Rome, from 1954 to 2023. It documents the interdisciplinary benefit received by the ICa from the journal, which is an expression of the Faculty of Educational Sciences, and the contribution that the ICa has made, over the seven decades, to «Orientamenti Pedagogici» through the successive members who have been involved over time. Although fluctuations in the relationship between the journal and ICa have been noted, especially in the last two decades, the thread of continuity and novelty registered over the years is undeniable. For the examination, certain indicators have been determined, such as historical memory, the interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary epistemology inherent in Catechetics, hermeneutics, methodology, experimentation, drawing on both older and more recent field research in the field of catechesis and religious education.
