Simona Savelli
The United States Education and Training System has significant and interesting differences when compared to the Italian one. Referring to institutional sources and reliable and updated information, we try to draw an accessible picture of the entire system. At first, we analyze the political-administrative level and the role of the Federal State, the Federated States, the Department of Education, Districts and Specialized Agencies in the field of Education. Then, from the structural point of view, we examine the articulation of the Education and Training System: the different types of Education and Training Qualifications conferred and the variety of Education and Training Institutions and Providers. Finally, we focus on the tools that guarantee the quality of learning and thus on the importance that various types of credit units, institutional and programmatic accreditation and standard-setting assume in the system. We have integrated this information with a brief historical introduction and an analysis of perspective.
