L’approccio educativo con i ragazzi con ADHD – L’esperienza italiana dei campus estivi residenziali

Since 2009, the Italian Association of ADHD Families organizes residential summer camps addressed to preteens and adolescents diagnosed with ADHD. The campus, which lasts eight days, includes sports such as judo, archery, climbing, hiking and recreational and educational activities. Starting from describing the aims of the project and from the proposed activities, then appropriate educational practices gained in years of experience are put in place by the team. From an educational point of view, daily routines of community life through which it is possible to work on social skills and personal autonomy, are the most important parts of the experience. The aim of this paper is to outline the educational approach built over the past years by the campus educators, which we describe as positive, focused, firm and flexible.
