Wilhelm Meister e il destino errante della formazione moderna
Anita Gramigna, Carlo Rosa
This text is based on the conviction that formation in the modernity has assumed an unstoppable dynamical profile, in line with the acceleration that the XIX century’s industrial revolution was imposing. The main character in the centre of our investigation is Goethe, with his Bildungroman, but also with his scientific studies and his participation in the political life. The paradox in his existential dimension consists in the restless vocation to cultural change even within an existence «condemned» to the permanence in Weimar court. The historical support are willingly reduced to the number of two, sustaining a thesis which sees the deep interlacement between epistemology, aesthetics and ethics: Benjamin and Cassirer, exponents of that Jewish-German Bildung that, a century after the disappearance of the great German intellectual, paid dearly the betrayal of the high formative ideal.
