The Young and the Humanization of God. The birth of youth ministry and its educational vision

The «XV Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops» (Young People, the Faith and Vocational Discernment) offers us the possibility of thinking about youth ministry. In this perspective, the article reflects on its birth and singularity, both aspects related to the cultural changes of the 1960s and the Second Vatican Council. Constructed from catechesis and scientifically structured in the Faculty of Educational Sciences of the Salesian Pontifical University in Rome, youth ministry owes its identity primarily to the young and then to the «incarnation principle» and to the «mutual implication» between education and faith.
