The training experience of the PhD students of the Salesian Pontifical University 2016/2017
Elisabetta Di Stefano, Salvatore Grammatico, Katia Bolelli
This paper represents a synthesis of the direct experience learned from the working group of the doctorate students of the first year of the 2016/2017 course, while preparing a workshop to be held in June 2017; the authors of this paper are part of the working group. The exposition of the empirical results is preceded by an analysis on the state of the art of third level research in the Pontifical Universities, with an in-depth study on the training at the Salesian Pontifical University in Rome, academic year 2016-2017, starting from the significant self-evaluation of the PhD Organizing Committee (COD). The opportunity of the realization of a workshop offered to us doctorial students was the starting point for thinking on the elements constituting a working group, specifically at academic level, re-considering the strength and the weaknesses points found along the entire path. We hope that this paper represents an opportunity for reflection both for those who are following an academic doctoral path, also trying to implement a working group, and for the teachers and reference tutors who guide the first research experiences of future social scientists.
