The right to education for all in the world and in Italy. Seventy years from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights

The article intends above all to recall an act of the highest relevance made by the UN, namely the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, seventy years after its proclamation. However, it is not a comment on the text, but we wanted to focus the study on the human right which is of greater interest to the readers of this magazine: the right to education for all. Therefore, the first part of the article deals with evolution in the seventy years from elementary and fundamental education to basic education for all. In the second part we move to a balance sheet of the current situation that sees many lights, but also considerable shadows. The third part contains indications for overcoming the critical issues and strengthening the progress made. A final feature of the study is that it will not only deal with trends at the international level, but we will try to highlight problems and prospects related to our country.
