Una proposta pedagogica sullo schermo. La scuola in due produzioni televisive di Vittorio De Seta (1970-1979)
Damiano Felini
The two television series that Vittorio De Seta directed on behalf of RAI between 1970 and 1979, which received wide acclaim from both critics and audiences, represent extraordinary texts about the renewal of the Italian school system. The article analyzes Diario di un maestro and Quando la scuola cambia from a pedagogical point of view, highlighting the idea of school that De Seta presented to his audience, according to which the institution had to reconsider its social commitment for lower class children and rethink its teaching methods in order to open itself to local contexts. What emerges is a conception of school quite different from the trends of de-schooling and protest characteristic of those years, instead promoting the idea that is possible to reform school based on the renewed commitment of teachers.
