Lo stress delle matricole: un’esperienza pilota per l’implementazione di un programma di prevenzione

The article describes a preliminary study designed to test the effectiveness of a prevention program aimed at reducing stress in newly enrolled university student The transition to higher education is an important stage which involves multiple changes at a personal, academic, and social level. If students were not provided with the necessary resources to cope with this change, the possibility of experiencing stress, as research demonstrated, is quite high. In fact, freshmen represent one of the most high-risk groups for adaptation problems and consequent symptoms of stress. This paper reports the findings of some studies regarding this topic and presents the results of a cognitive-behavioral program applied to a small group of students, and designed to enhance their coping strategies to adapt to university life.
