Case Conceptualization in Childhood Schema Therapy

Stefano Terenzi, Christof Loose, Rosario Capo

The article highlights the importance of case conceptualization in the treatment of Schema Therapy with Children and Adolescents (ST-CA) with Mode Sketch. Initially, he introduces the most salient aspects of the evaluation process and emphasizes the usefulness of the ABC model in defining the factors underlying problem behaviour. In addition, it explores the use of the Mode Sketch as a tool, linked to the ABC model, to deepen the intrapsychic dynamics of the young patient through the representation of the modes involved in the emergence of dysfunctional behaviour. Finally, the article shows the sequential steps of the Mode Sketch through which to go ahead with the conceptualization of the case.
