Accelerare o cambiare marcia?

The article presents an observation on the current state of social integration of disabled persons in the light of the social, economic and cultural changes which our country is experiencing. The initial data is that social integration is «on the defensive», after more than thirty years. The supremacy of «calculating thought» continuously refers social integration to the economic dimension, subtracting it from the ethical and aesthetic dimension. Remaining anchored rigidly to the logic of calculating thought can lead to the system collapsing. The article uses Watzlawick’s observations concerning the development and solution of problems, to emphasise the fact that integration can have a future provided that whoever sustains it is able to abandon the «more than before» logic based on proposals which foresee a «change of the change». Some examples are provided in this respect concerning the integration of education and employment.
