Verso il superamento degli specialismi esclusivi

Andrea Canevaro

It is quite understandable that the relatives of an individual with special educational needs seek persons with specific expertise to support the individual concerned, but this entails the risk of moving towards specialism and not specificity. There are proposals, for example, basal stimulation, that can represent a valid tool to make collaboration and communication possible among the person concerned, the family, the educators and the specialists. The growth process of each person takes place in a given environment and, regardless of his/her condition, it involves multiple processes, of which the competent specialist must avail, while avoiding the risk of withdrawing into the specialism of specificity.
