L’utilizzo del materiale strutturato per favorire l’apprendimento logico-matematico negli allievi con lieve ritardo mentale

Filippo Dettori, Lio Moscardini

This contribution presents the results of research work carried out jointly by two researchers who made some observations by participating in some Italian and Scottish primary school classes. The main aim was to study how the teaching aids used in the schools can help children with mild and moderate learning difficulties to discover logical mathematical processes. In particular, the study wanted to understand if and how the use of Arithmetical Multi-Base Blocks, rules and the abacus can help children in the acquisition of logical principals and in the resolution of arithmetical problems. The results obtained show how the systematic use of these learning aids can simplify cognitive processes and improve learning.
