Changing from the concept of integration to the concept of caring for disabled children in the early childhood education services means promoting an additional step forward towards acknowledging the subjectivity and personality of the disabled child in terms of his/her singularity and uniqueness. This requires a cultural change that involves not only the parents or the teachers, but the entire social system in which the children are integrated. It comes necessary to enhance one’s own methodological and teaching skills within the services, without neglecting the development of the empathic capacity that is essential in order to work in educational contexts.
