Helping relationships. For a review of Andrea Canevaro’s studies
Marika Savastano
The article develops a series of arguments on some of Andrea Canevaro’s theories, which concern the theme of helping relationships. In particular, the analysis concerned the regulatory process on the classification of diseases, evolved into the ICF document, which promoted a new vision of the deficit, it concerns the functioning of the person with disabilities; the consideration of the context in which the people involved in the relationship are inserted; the dominant dual logic and the need to acquire a plural logic; acceptance of diversity and educational coevolution; the function of language in the interpretation of the surrounding reality and the need to change perspective; finally, the dramatization of suffering as a common need to give space to «feelings», which are decisive in the development of common awareness and the development of the common consciousness of the human being. The article aims to propose a new line of research on the topic of helping relationships, which concerns the possibility of outlining a series of valid approaches, which can be applied in concrete helping relationships.
