Children Love design. Good practices of Universal Design4
Debora Aquario, Maria Gabriella Formicola
The paper is aimed at presenting a project called Children love design, articulated in a series of meetings held in Anzio with children aged 5 to 12, sponsored by the Italian Association for Industrial Design (ADI). The meetings, held in the form of workshops and inspired by the universal design for learning approach, came about due to the desire to open a dialogue between children and design and to present an opportunity to learn by imagining, to feel good together with others in a spontaneous and equal way, but also to think about oneself and the world, designing and building small objects with useful, possible and very often imaginary functions. Children love design represents an example of how the principles underlying the universal design for learning philosophy can be translated into practice and can offer interesting prospects in the field of educator and teacher training.
