Anffas is the largest Italian association and one of the largest in Europe to deal with intellectual disabilities and neurodevelopmental disorders. Anffas Onlus Salerno has been operating in the area for more than 60 years, has a democratic structure, is non-profit and exclusively pursues purposes of solidarity and social promotion, in the health, social, social health, social welfare and social educational fields, and in the areas of sports, recreation and motor activities, scientific research, training, charity work, and the safeguarding of human and civil rights. It primarily benefits disadvantaged people with intellectual and/or relational disabilities and their families, so that they are guaranteed their inalienable right to a free and protected life, and can live as independently as possible in consideration of their dignity. Subsequently, on the impulse of Anffas Onlus Salerno and the Anffas Salerno Giovanni Caressa Onlus Foundation, the Icaro Social Cooperative, an Anffas-branded entity, was founded. This contribution aims to explore the activities carried out by the Anffas-branded Icaro Social Cooperative regarding the drafting of individual projects and the promotion of information and training activities on the topic of After Us and Independent Life, through the foundation of an agency for independent living. Self-determination, life project and quality of life are the main constructs — analysed in the contribution — that guide the inclusive educational practices implemented daily by the Icaro Social Cooperative.
