The «Balloon Project»

What will happen to my child with a disability after school? Will they be ready to face the daily contexts of life and work? This paper analyses these questions, which often torment families with disabled children (Pavone, 2009), through the analysis of the pedagogical emergencies that children with disabilities and their families may face at the end of compulsory education. To support the life trajectory of adolescents with intellectual disabilities towards adulthood, the Balloon Project, created to foster the skills and competences necessary for everyday life, is presented.
