Physical education for youths and adults with intellectual disabilities and autism

Maria das Graças C.S de Sá, Denise Meyrelles de Jesus

This article aims to present a reflection on a pedagogical proposal based on physical education involving young people and adults with disabilities. It is a study based on the action-research methodology, carried out through constantly exercising critical reflection on social reality and on the knowledge produced by the group in a collaborative way. The project allowed us to highlight the cultural enrichment and life improvement of the people involved as we were given the opportunity to reflect on the participants’ ability to understand, experience and share references about themselves and the world.
