University education of people with disabilities

Gilvane Belem Correia, Francéli Brizolla

This paper presents an analysis of academic inclusion developed at a Brazilian public university. This challenge is analysed based on the changes in the dynamics of access to various courses that have happened, which aim to value the school trajectory of individuals hoping to attend university and are not only based on an access exam, something which is common in Brazil. We are planning to focus on programmes which, with institutional support, have found alternatives that recognise the complexity of the process and that seek to change the ingrained culture of academic selectivity and meritocracy.
