Space for capabilities and disability
Rosa Bellacicco, Diego Di Masi
Education and training contexts are increasingly crossed by an inclusive perspective. Such a transformation has been based on the analysis of the interaction between individuals and their life context, between individuals’ functioning and their social environment. However, in common language and often in scientific language too, the issue of disability continues to be considered as a single conceptual category. This study, which is part of a wider evaluation research project on Higher Education Disability Services, involves students with disabilities as co-researchers and it offers a comparative analysis of the levels of opportunity in participation in university life achieved by two groups of students characterised respectively by mobility impairment and visual impairment at the Universities of Padua and Turin.
