L’accessibilità dei siti Web per la promozione sociale e formativa

Pietro Tonegato

The wide-spread diffusion and pervasiveness of the Internet now propose the web as the new frontier of social relations and education, but not everyone has a real opportunity to access the Internet due to the persistence of technological barriers. The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF), on the one hand, point out the importance of accessibility, also with reference to the web, and on the other hand, the environmental and technological factors in relation to the real possibility for everyone to participate in the on-line social contexts. The W3C Guidelines and the regulations of Law 4/2004 set out the technical accessibility requirements of websites and web-based applications. The increasing presence of educational and training solutions on the web, the development of e-learning courses based on the social-constructivist perspective, the wide-spread diffusion of social-networks… now make it an urgent matter to promote full accessibility to these net-learning opportunities for people with disabilities.
