The «Matrici Ecologiche» project for the life quality of people with severe disabilities

Living in a care home and practicing «the same freedom of choice as other people», as highlighted in art. 19 of Rights of people with disabilities (ONU, 2006), is fundamental. The challenge is giving voice to those, who, due to a severe intellectual deficit, seem unable to express wishes and opinions or make choices. The «Matrici Ecologiche» project may be useful for educators, trained to read complex situations, in guiding people with severe deficits to self-determine as far as possible and tell the story of their own existence.
