When giftedness does not lead to school success

There are a few studies (Renzulli, 1977) on the topic of giftedness highlighting an aspect which has to date been investigated very little: that regarding the discrepancy between capabilities and school success found in students defined as gifted underachievers. Following a brief description of the problem, we shall present some research data (Baum et al., 1995b), which we can be drawn upon for useful methodological reflections on how to deal with lack of motivation to study from an inclusive perspective.
