Perception of the quality of inclusive processes: The school’s point of view
Laura Arcangeli, Marco Bartolucci, Moira Sannipoli
This research takes the form of a fact-finding investigation into the topic of perception of school inclusion, in terms of cultures, practices and policies, on a representative sample of key players in schools. An ad hoc questionnaire was built using the Index for Inclusion as a starting point, converted into an online version and sent out to and filled in by students and school staff (head teachers, teachers, and administrative and ancillary staff) in schools participating in the postgraduate training placement programme for support activities by the University of Perugia. The results show an overall doubtful perception concerning all dimensions on the part of the students, and particular emphasis, confirmed by the qualitative data of the supplementary open responses, is placed on a substantial variability in control and implementation during management, planning and assessment phases of individualised education programmes for pupils with disabilities, as well as on the quality of relations between schools and local associations dealing with disability.
