La promozione dell’inclusione e l’impegno «cooperativo»

Start from curiosity and not from the presumption of teaching others. In this article we refer to the school’s situation in El Salvador. Inclusion as the educational key through which the general quality of the educational system can be improved: inclusive education cannot only deal with issues relating to teachers and learning, but it must also explore the theories and ideologies which guide the actions of those teachers and it must take into account issues related to what education is and what its fundamental premises are. The World Health Organisation (WHO, 2001)’s ICF – International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health must be cited: the importance of inclusive educational environments; making the concept of interaction between subject and environment a central issue; regarding the interaction between health characteristics and environmental factors as factors which produce or do not produce a handicap (environmental factors contribute to improving the functioning of a person or increasing difficulties by becoming a barrier).
