La musica come esperienza originale nell’approccio alle emozioni e al dialogo con i bambini autistici

Manuela Smario

The integration of a disabled child in an ordinary school is a diffi cult process that brings numerous variables into play, requiring a willingness to try new strategies. This experience is characterised, above all, by the diffi culty encountered in managing the succession of problem situations, in the endeavour to integrate an autistic girl in the primary school’s programme and uses music as a vehicle of emotions, but also to provide communication opportunities, fi rstly to be used with the expert adult and
then with the schoolmates. Music, as a non-verbal communication form, carries the emotions: improvisation gives way to rhythm, the adult knows the answers and becomes the privileged contact person who will know how to repropose the game to the group of peers.
