After publication in the Italian Official Journal of Law n. 170 – issued on 8th October – «New regulations on specific learning disabilities in educational settings» –, learning disabilities have gained acknowledgment even as far as laws are concerned. Law 170 and its guidelines define which compensatory and dispensatory measures are possible for pupils and students with SLDs at all levels of education. This article describes the numerous tools, activities
and measures that are nowadays used both in the clinical domain and at a school level as learning supports. The aim of this article is to recognise and identify individualised educational activities and personalised tools for every student with a Specific Learning Disorder from those laid down in clinical diagnosis, as well as to put into practice individualised teaching strategies and compensatory and dispensatory measures in the most favourable conditions in order to achieve learning objectives in an academic setting and to present an example of best practice.
