In this study the set of attributions, self-esteem and internalising symptoms in 41 dyslexic children have been evaluated. Dyslexia has a generalised effect on self-esteem, not only limited to the school domain. Dyslexic children, especially females, have an internal locus of control for failure and an external locus of control for success, confirming a belief of inadequacy. This attribution bias does not seem widespread in all everyday situations. The incidence of depressive symptomatology is very high. This study highlights the importance of psychological evaluation and support beyond rehabilitative training among children with dyslexia.
