Effectiveness of a home-based lexical training programme to improve reading in developmental dyslexia

This study presents the effectiveness of a home-based lexical training programme to improve reading in seventeen children with a diagnosis of developmental dyslexia. A lexical training programme for homework was defined using Reading Trainer@, an online software program (RIDInet). Its effectiveness was evaluated immediately after the end of training (post-test) and one year after first testing (follow-up). The data from reading assessment (accuracy and speed of reading the passage, words and pseudowords) was compared with the reading development of typical and dyslexic readers. Data show the effectiveness of the home-based lexical training programme to improve reading, but suggest different implications on reading accuracy and speed.
