Twins and SLD: parallel treatment
Linda Farinetti, Gianluca Lo Presti
In recent years more and more children have been reaching clinical observation on the advice of teachers or family members. However, is it always so easy to actually make a diagnosis? This paper presents the case of twins, where only one of the two has been given a diagnosis of SLD, despite the obvious difficulties encountered by both in school. Despite theoretically having a different clinical situation, the same response to treatment is observed in both twins. It is therefore necessary to reflect on the working method available to the clinician, particularly in the delicate phase of confirming or disproving a diagnosis of SLD. The specific case of twins also provides us with further scientific proof of how biology has a profound significance and can influence the outcome of treatment.
