“Process” consulting relationship

Massimo Bellotto, Christian Colautti

“Process” consulting relationships are transformative practices for the development of organisational systems and people. They are based on the supposition that facilitating learning deals with developing awareness and consciousness and with support regarding the method (process), rather than with the transmission of contents or solution learning. In this article the concept of process consultation has been turned into a problem through a reflection (meditation) on the possible assumptions that orient consulting praxis. In particular, we refer to all the possible implicit theories of the consultant as far as the organisation, the process, the learning and relations are concerned. In the author’s hypothesis these implicit theories generate different consulting practices, so it’s appropriate that these are made explicit and clarified.
